  • Can I customise every aspect of my bespoke outdoor kitchen?
Absolutely! Every element of your outdoor kitchen can be tailored to your preferences, from the layout and materials to the appliances and finishes
  • Can I make changes to my bespoke outdoor kitchen design after construction has started?
In most cases, yes. While it's easier to finalise all details during the design process, we understand that new ideas may arise. If you have any changes or suggestions, please contact us as soon as possible so we can discuss the best way to incorporate them.
  • How much does a bespoke outdoor kitchen typically cost?
The cost depends on the materials you choose and the appliances you decide to include. We'll work with you to create a customised outdoor kitchen that fits your budget while still delivering the features and quality you desire. Please don’t hesitate to contact us to book a consultation call to discuss your requirements and the potential costs further.
  • What is a bespoke outdoor kitchen, and how does it differ from a modular outdoor kitchen?
A bespoke outdoor kitchen is a fully customised outdoor kitchen designed to meet your unique requirements. It can be tailored to your specific measurements and styled to seamlessly integrate with your house and garden. Bespoke kitchens are built from scratch, usually using concrete blocks or a wooden frame. You can select your desired kitchen finish, worktop materials, and the amount of storage space. We can also adapt bespoke kitchens to accommodate any appliances you wish to purchase or already own, making it truly one-of-a-kind
  • Can AOS help me integrate my outdoor kitchen with other features like a pergola, fireplace, or seating area?
Certainly! We can design your outdoor kitchen to integrate with or complement existing garden features, creating a cohesive and harmonious outdoor living space.
  • Does AOS provide warranty and after-sales support for bespoke outdoor kitchens?
Absolutely, at AOS, we are committed to delivering quality and ensuring customer satisfaction. For our bespoke outdoor kitchens, while we may not have a formalised warranty in place, we stand behind the craftsmanship and the materials used in our projects. If a problem arises due to our workmanship or the materials we've utilised, rest assured, we will address and rectify the issue. However, it's crucial for clients to take proper care of their kitchens. If damage occurs due to negligence or inappropriate usage by the client, while we may not cover the repair costs, our team is always available to offer advice and recommendations on how best to address the situation. Our priority is ensuring that every AOS kitchen stands as a testament to both our dedication to quality and our client's vision.
  • How long does it take to design and construct a bespoke outdoor kitchen?
The design process varies depending on how many revisions are needed to the 3D design before you're completely satisfied with the outdoor kitchen's appearance. Once the design is finalised, the construction process typically takes 2 weeks, with only 5 days actually spent on site. This is because there is a 1 week wait time for the worktops to be cut. However, please note that during the summer months, the construction wait time may be longer due to higher demand.
  • What materials are available for my bespoke outdoor kitchen, and how do I choose the right one?
We can use any materials you desire for your outdoor kitchen, so let your imagination run wild! Popular options for the kitchen finish include split face tiles, brick, and sand and cement render, while granite, Dekton, porcelain, and cement are common choices for worktops. Drawers and cupboards are typically made using stainless steel. When selecting materials, consider factors such as durability, maintenance requirements, and aesthetic preferences
  • Do I need any permits or approvals to construct a bespoke outdoor kitchen?
In most cases, you won't need planning permission to build a bespoke outdoor kitchen in the UK. This is because an outdoor kitchen is typically viewed as a garden enhancement and not a permanent structure, similar to various outdoor living room concepts. However, it's important to note that any tasks involving gas, electricity, or plumbing should be carried out by certified professionals to ensure safety and compliance with the relevant regulations. The exception to the general rule about planning permissions is when you intend to add a shelter to your outdoor kitchen. If the shelter is within two metres of your neighbour's boundary, it cannot exceed a height of 2.5 metres. If the shelter is roughly four metres or more from the boundary, its height can go up to around four metres at the apex of the roof. To be absolutely certain about the requirements and regulations in your specific area, it's always a good idea to consult your local Council's online resources or contact them directly for clarity.
  • How do I decide on the best layout and design for my bespoke outdoor kitchen?
Choosing the best layout and design depends on several factors, including how much you want your kitchen to stand out or blend in with its surroundings. If you're interested in an outdoor bar, an L-shaped design is often a popular choice. The number and type of appliances you select can also influence the kitchen's shape, as well as the ease of accessing drawers and cupboards. The size of your outdoor space will help determine the most suitable shape.
  • Can I expand or modify my modular outdoor kitchen in the future?
Absolutely! You can easily add or remove units from your modular outdoor kitchen as your needs evolve over time. This flexibility makes it simple to adapt your kitchen to changing requirements.
  • How much does a modular outdoor kitchen typically cost?
The cost of a modular outdoor kitchen depends on the brand of units you select. Burnout is on the higher end of the price range, while Napoleon and Beefeater offer more affordable options. We'll work with you to find the best fit for your budget and preferences.
  • Can I install a modular outdoor kitchen myself, or do I need professional assistance?
You can certainly install your modular outdoor kitchen yourself, saving you the installation fee. The units are quick and simple to assemble, so you'll have your kitchen ready in no time. However, as we have extensive experience with installations, our team can put together your kitchen even faster, ensuring everything is set up perfectly.
  • What materials are used in AOS modular outdoor kitchens, and how durable are they?
AOS modular outdoor kitchens are typically constructed from tricoya (this is guaranteed to last 50 years outside, is incredibly stable and sprays well), ensuring durability and longevity. Our kitchens are designed to withstand the elements and provide you with a reliable outdoor cooking space for years to come.
  • Do I need any special preparations or a foundation for installing a modular outdoor kitchen?
No, you don't need any foundations for a modular outdoor kitchen. However, these kitchens are particularly easy to install on a pre-laid patio, making the process straightforward and hassle-free.
  • What is a modular outdoor kitchen, and how does it differ from a bespoke outdoor kitchen?
A modular outdoor kitchen consists of pre-designed units from various brands, each offering a range of different sizes and functionalities. Unlike a bespoke kitchen, which is tailored to your specific needs, a modular outdoor kitchen allows you to select from a variety of ready-made units. These kitchens are quick to install, typically taking less than a day, and can be assembled by our team or by yourself.
  • How long does it take to install a modular outdoor kitchen?
Installing a modular outdoor kitchen usually takes less than a day, often just a few hours, depending on the number of units you've chosen. Our experienced team can quickly assemble and set up your new kitchen for you, so you can save yourself the time and effort, and start enjoying it sooner
  • Does AOS provide warranty and after-sales support for modular outdoor kitchens?
Yes, we provide comprehensive warranty and after-sales support for our modular outdoor kitchens. Our team is dedicated to ensuring your satisfaction and is always available to address any concerns or questions you may have
  • Can I choose and customise different modules for my outdoor kitchen?
While the modules themselves cannot be customised, you can personalise the worktops. A wide range of units is available, allowing you to select the ones that best suit your needs, whether you require more worktop space, additional storage, or accommodations for specific appliances
  • Can AOS help me design the layout and choose the right modules for my outdoor kitchen?
Of course! If you provide us with the measurements of your space, we can recommend units that will meet your kitchen needs and fit your outdoor area. If you're interested in Burnout outdoor kitchen modules, they offer an online configurator that allows you to visualise how your chosen units will look together before purchasing
  • What are the maintenance requirements for the different types of pergola roofs and side features?
The maintenance of the pergola designs is generally minimal and easy. Wooden pergolas, while requiring little upkeep, benefit from occasional sweeping to remove leaves or other debris from the roof, and a routine clean can be handy to address spider webs. Similarly, the retractable and slatted roof pergolas might gather leaves, especially when opened. It's advisable for homeowners to either sweep or blow off any accumulated debris before opening the roof to prevent the leaves from falling into the sheltered area; however, if leaves do fall through when the roof is opened, a quick sweep-up will do the trick. Additionally, those with powder-coated modular shelters might occasionally choose to give the frame, particularly the legs, a gentle wipe down to maintain its fresh appearance by removing any mud or other potential marks. The gutters should also be checked regularly to avoid build up. Regular visual inspections and general cleaning will ensure both the durability and visual appeal of the pergolas.
  • How do the slatted and retractable roofs operate? Are they manual or automated?
The slatted and retractable roof pergolas operate manually. They come with a rod; by turning the rod, you can easily open or close the slats as per your preference.
  • What are the benefits of installing a pergola or shelter in my outdoor kitchen?
Incorporating a pergola or shelter into your outdoor kitchen offers enhanced functionality, enabling year-round enjoyment regardless of weather conditions.nOpting for a slatted or fully closed roof provides robust protection from both the sun's intensity and unexpected rain. Should you choose sides that are slatted, fully closed, or equipped with pull-down blinds, you'll benefit from a shield against the wind. While an open-roofed pergola is ideal for cultivating climbing plants and fostering a cosy ambiance, it won't offer protection against the elements. Regardless of the style, the option to integrate heaters and lighting ensures a welcoming and ambient environment for you and your guests.
  • What materials are you pergolas and shelters made of, and how do they fare against different weather conditions?
We offer powder-coated aluminium pergolas, known for their durability and resilience against various weather conditions. For a more customised look, web also create shelters using Timber posts and timber frame construction, topped with rubberized roofs for effective weather protection.
  • Can I customise the design and features of my pergola or shelter, or are they only available in predetermined sizes and styles?
While our powder-coated aluminium pergolas have certain size constraints and come within a limited colour range, we also offer bespoke solutions where we can tailor the shelter's design to your specific needs and preferences.
  • How long does it typically take to install a bespoke pergola compared to a modular one?
Constructing a bespoke wooden shelter usually spans 3 to 4 days, while assembling a modular pergola can generally be completed within a day.
  • Which type of pergola roof would you recommend for unpredictable weather?
For unpredictable weather, the powder-coated aluminium pergolas with either louvres that open and shut or retractable roofs would be ideal. These provide the flexibility of being open or shut as per the ever changing conditions.
  • How do your pergolas and shelters integrate with the kitchen appliances and equipment, especially in terms of ventilation and safety?
Our pergolas and shelters are designed with optimal ventilation and safety in mind, especially when integrated with kitchen appliances and equipment. For individuals seeking enhanced ventilation, options include open, retractable or slatted roofs. Furthermore, sides can be slatted, come equipped with blinds that can be adjusted, or even remain entirely open. These design elements ensure that smoke and heat from cooking appliances dissipate effectively, promoting a safer and more comfortable outdoor kitchen environment.
  • Are there any warranty or after-sales service offered on the pergolas and shelters?
Certainly. For our bespoke wooden shelters, we stand firmly behind the quality of our work. If any damage arises due to a fault in the materials we've used or a construction error, we will address and rectify it. We offer a dedicated aftercare for these bespoke shelters, ensuring that they stand the test of time. For our modular shelters, here's our warranty policy: Upon your purchase, the warranty period initiates, catering specifically to regular domestic use. The original purchase receipt will act as your warranty certificate, safeguarding against any construction and material defects that were present at the time of delivery. However, the warranty doesn't cover damage arising from incorrect usage, such as abnormal loads, deterioration from aggressive substances, inappropriate maintenance, non-authorised repairs, incorrect assembly, or deviations from our recommended aftercare. In the unlikely event a specific model or colour isn't available, we reserve the right to replace the faulty piece with a similar product. Typically, the replacement pertains to the defective part rather than the entire set. Repairs, refinishing, or replacements won't extend the original warranty period. Some exclusions to this warranty include: ● Defects from normal wear or due to extreme weather conditions. ● Scratches from use on plastics or aluminium. ● Natural wood characteristics like cracking, tearing, and discolouration. ● Internal rusting in steel parts, often from factors such as condensation. Please ensure you understand these terms to fully benefit from our product's warranty.
  • Do the pergolas support the growth of climbing plants, and if so, which type is best for this purpose?
Yes, our pergolas can support the growth of climbing plants, particularly vines. While they can be grown on all our pergola designs, they resonate most aesthetically with our wooden bespoke designs, which offer a more natural backdrop. For those considering plants on pergolas with slatted or retractable roofs, it's crucial to ensure the vegetation doesn't hinder the functionality of these roofs. An open-roof shelter interspersed with plants creates a captivating sight, especially when plants grow over the top. This not only provides a natural feel to the shelter but also serves as a focal point, seamlessly integrating with thesurrounding garden.
  • How much space do I need for an outdoor kitchen?
Not much at all! Bespoke outdoor kitchens can be tailored to fit any size space. Modular kitchens come in various unit sizes, but may have more limitations due to the set size of the units. The space required depends on the appliances you desire and how much worktop space you need. We can always work with you to maximise the available space.
  • How do I protect my outdoor kitchen from the elements?
Our outdoor kitchens are designed to withstand the elements, but pergolas and shelters offer additional protection, allowing you to use your kitchen in any weather. If you live in a windy area, we recommend avoiding push/pistol hinges, as they might open in strong winds. Bespoke kitchen covers are also available to purchase. These covers are personalised to go over the entirety of your outdoor kitchen and appliances.
  • Do I need planning permission to build an outdoor kitchen?
The simple answer is - no. As an outdoor kitchen is considered a garden enhancement rather than a permanent structure, much like outdoor living room ideas, special permits or planning permissions aren't required. Having said that, we would advise that any gas, electric or plumbing work needs to be completed by a professional. The only time you would need permission in the UK, is if you are building a shelter. If you are within two meters of your neighbours border, you are not allowed to go over 2.5 meters high. Once you get to about 4 meters away, you can then go up to about 4 meters to the apex of the roof. You can always check with your local Council - go online and see what their rules and regulations are in your area.
  • What type of appliances and features can I include in my outdoor kitchen?
We can design and construct your kitchen to accommodate any appliance or feature you desire, regardless of whether you purchase them from us or have them already. Modular kitchens have some limitations on personalisation, but they can still fit most appliances, and we can combine bespoke and modular designs if you have specific requirements. Common additions include barbecues, pizza ovens, kamado ovens, fridges, storage drawers, cupboards, and shelving.
  • What kind of materials are best suited for outdoor kitchens?
We only use the finest materials suited for outdoor kitchens. Popular finishes include split-face tiles, brick, timber cladding, cement board, Dekton and render. Stainless steel drawers and cupboard doors are used to prevent rusting or weather-related damage. For worktops, you can choose from granite, Dekton, porcelain, or concrete. All these materials are strong, durable, and water-resistant.
  • What kind of maintenance does an outdoor kitchen require?
An outdoor kitchen requires similar maintenance to an indoor kitchen. This includes tasks like emptying the rubbish, cleaning the worktops, and maintaining the appliances. With proper care, your outdoor kitchen will provide years of enjoyment.
  • What are the advantages of having an outdoor kitchen?
    - Extra cooking area - Extra entertaining area - Increase property value - Opportunity for outdoor dining, barbecuing and cooking with a beautiful natural backdrop.
